Lynn, re: "thinking of buying some Intel April puts" This is a high risk. The puts are less than .50, but INTC would have to really tank. Also, the trigger for the tank is INTC's quarterly report. I would either buy puts closer to $25-27.5 or wait until we are closer to the quarterly report (mid April). Since INTC (and AMD) just went through a big price upswing, buying the INTC April puts now, but closer to the money would be my call.

I am not buying INTC puts, but just bought a few AMD April 30 Calls. AMD has not given back much, which signals to me the run is not over.

Hi Lynn:

"I'm thinking of buying some Intel April puts
either 22.5 or 20. Any thoughts?"

Although intuitively, and based upon comparatives (i.e product lineups and financials)with AMD, I do agree with the idea, INTC just has too much institutional interest to dip much below $25, imho...INTC's recent dividend declaration will ensure such continuing support...Just my wag!!!

Lynn, I think this is excellent timing for buying Intel puts. It seems like 30 is a cap now. It has tried twice to exceed it and failed. This almost guarantees it will test the 52 week low at 24.5. Intel may not react negatively on its earnings report, but I expect AMD's earnings report will kill it, because it will be so much superior.

I have April 30 puts, not much time premium and a good hedge for bad "semi" news against my AMD position. 20's and 22.5's are a little risky for me.

Lynn,

I'm thinking of buying some Intel April puts either 22.5 or 20. Any thoughts?

That sounds like an extremely long shot.
