T,

how do you know that P4 will never excel at anything?

I don't know if Intel will make changes that will result in dramatic performance gain, or if Intel is able to make dramatic advances in the clock speeds. I base my observation on the present, and assuming ordinary progression. I think the ball is in court of a person predicting extraordinary changes to prove the basis of their prediction.

It seems to be a leap of faith on your part, combined with your apparent belief that the gorilla can never do anything right.

I don't think I have ever said that, and certainly that is not my belief. That is that the gorilla can never do anything right. My belief is that even the gorilla can and does make mistakes. Being an AMD shareholder, I am salivating at the possibility that P4 and Itanium may in fact be 2 mistakes that the gorilla is in process of making.
