Haveing limited ability is not the same as having limited legal rights. Individual choice gets limited more in a situation with a larger government.

Even if you have no problem with large government in principle what about the practical problems caused by a large government with high taxes and lots of regulation. It will slow economic growth (it might more fairly distribute the smaller pie but the pie will be smaller), and it requires tons of paperwork and red tape, while taking money from all of its citizens to subsidize things like mohair production and McDonalds adds, and it forces poor people to pay more for food so that agribusiness can get large checks.
