There need to be helmet requirements for scooters

You're a hoot.

Actually, I do know of one adult who has tried a scooter and that one adult managed to have an accident. He's a sixty-something who was trying his grandson's scooter and hit a rock. Scuffed himself up pretty good--but not enough that I couldn't laugh at him to his face.

I'm not interested in activities that kill or maim a very small number of people that are not economically significant.

Well, scooters are surely economically significant. One hundred percent accident rate in my experience.

Seriously, I can understand why you would set the size of the affected population as your criterion, but then you leave out all the biggies--smoking, diet, drugs, sex. Even slipping in the bathtub has more victims that some of the things you'd make illegal. I know, I know. You reserve the right to be as arbitrary and capricious as you want.

RE:although I would do the car phone thing

I was listening to the radio the other day and they were talking about some professor who has been studying the reasons for car accidents for FIFTEEN years. He found that many other distractions were just as dangerous as car phones including looking at the speedometer! Just FYI. Should we outlaw speedometers too?
