and what are those better places to put ones money ?

The tech areas that are not involved in communications chips or networkers.

Nokia, Dell, Intel, Microsoft, Celestica etc...
Even SUNW looks a lot better than Cisco. I doubt Cisco can outperform any of these stocks in the NEAR term. Longer term, I would not count them out. We need to see some guidance on the future or some hints of improvement before Cisco moves up...I doubt we will get that near term.
However, I am still going to look to buy if most of the bad news gets factored in..I am just not sure it has at this point.

Of course buying some drugs, financials, retailers, energy is not that bad of idea. At least there is some certainty in earnings projections in these sectors.

Need to see what happens after month end selling by mutual funds that want Cisco, sunw types of stocks off their books. That may be creating a lot of selling pressure at this time. I am expecting Cisco short interest to have declined this month (due to probable short covering in this stock) and that would not be a good sign for the stock either if it is the case.

Looking for a trading opportunity (long) in Cisco if it arises but investment longer term just seems too risky at this time when given some other choices for investment especially companies like Dell.
