Hi Ed,
Just finished downloading IE6 (was that preview or beta?) and installing it in Win2k. It's on my primary work machine because I trust Microsoft to get it right the first time <g>. (Actually it is on my primary work machine, but that's because I LIKE doing re-installations.)

Anyway, the first thing I ran was Outlook Express 6 and it crashed when I said "yes to all" on replacing the address book entries". I reran it and said "no to all" and everything has run fine since. I didn't really care about the Outlook Express since I use Outlook 2000, but I wanted to see if there were any neat new interface changes. Didn't notice any in the 30 seconds I looked at it.

Talking about new installations; any Win2K users thinking of getting Easy CD Creator 5 should read the following reviews at Amazon:

amazon.com

I've ordered it but it has not come yet for me to test.

Best,
Steve

hi ed

i hope my comment was a positive catalyst. you've taken a brave step there. now put ie6 beta with winxp beta2 and we're really hoping for a perfect world!

touching back on our recent 'orphan' discussions, i see that ie6 beta will not run on win95. i experienced a bit of the 'orphan' syndrome when i attempted to put norton systemworks2001 on my older win95 machine and the install was halted by a pop up dialog saying nsw2001 would not run on w95. this got a rise out of me because w95 is listed on the front of the shrink wrapped carton as a compatible os. further investigation led me to discover that w95a was the only version that was incompatible. w95b is okay. i notice now that symantec is making that differentiation on the carton.

fortunately i had nsw2000 available in my software library (that means i found the disk in one of the stacks of junk here in my home office), and it installed on w95 no prob.

back to ie6 beta, this also looks interesting....

have fun and good luck

:)

How stable is it so far? It did not get good ratings for Stability. I wish I was as brave as you:-)
