Vitesse Semi lowers Q2 outlook (VTSS) by Nicole Maestri

Late in the after-hours trading session Monday, Vitesse Semiconductor lowered its second-quarter revenue and earnings expectations. The Camarillo, Calif.-based company said it now sees second-quarter revenue coming in at $120 million to $125 million, vs. earlier expectations of $150 million to $160 million. Rather than earning 21 cents to 22 cents per share, Vitesse said it now is expecting to earn 10 cents to 11 cents per share for the second quarter. Analysts, on average, had been expecting the company to earn 20 cents per share on revenue of $165.1 million, according to First Call. "We will be taking a hard look at managing our cost structure," said Lou Tomasetta, CEO in a company statement. Shares closed down $2.31, or 6.4 percent, to $33.94.
