Donnie, dogs are adorable with their own peculiar phobias... Our Scarlett hates thunder also, trembling at the first rumble. Even thunder on TV sets her off. Her sister, Melanie, hates the whistling wind. She has found her own little "cave" in a nook in our bedroom, where she runs to ride it out -- sometimes all night long. Neither one shares the other's phobia. Whenever there is a storm, our Goldens look at us with those soulful eyes, plainly asking, "Please, will you make this go away?" The bonding of human and dog, who communicate so deeply without the need for words, is one of the most beautiful things in life. J.C.
