If your looking for a dead tree read, try "When Genius Failed" by Roger Lowenstien. It's about Long Term Capital Management, and how the almost wrecked the world economy... it's written for the average intelligent reader, and all technical concepts are carefully explained, so you can give it to your non-financial friends when your through reading. It still has a lot of value for people on this thread, since it gives an inside look at hedge funds, and how the 'quants' think.
