Skeeter, you can "blame" part of the bubble on Reagan. After all, he lowered the cap gains tax, which allowed venture capitalists to make and keep some good money in the years after.

So then the VCs had a lot of money and they had to do something with it so they put it into networking co's and chips and software co's and chicken restaruants and Hollywood movie star restaraunts, wireless providers, CLECs and other new ideas and technologies. And they made more money, again taxed at the lower cap gains rate. And then more people threw ever more moeny at the VC's - after all the huge gains to come would be taxed at a lower rate.

So then the VC's had an even bigger mountain of money to invest, and then along came the .com craze, and the Linux era, and the fuel cell mania, and oh well now I'm exhausted and I think I'll go smoke a butt....
