Scumbria,

The M1 was a great design from an IPC perspective and it was overall competitive when it first came out. But, your #3 and #6 killed Cyrix. Cyrix's design win with Compaq with the MediaGX, and the subsequent "clone processor" door it left open with Compaq for AMD, may well go down in history as the turning point in the rise and fall of Intel.

The MediaGX was ahead of its time. National will see great success with it in its current Geode form, as tablet PCs become the rage.

Pravin.
