metman,

<< my gut ... Will they set up one basestation on the West coast ... one on the East Coast ... and make a GPRS call from New York to California .... ?? >>

My gut is that when they launch, it will be a very strong launch, with strong services, geared off of their AOL alliance, but not limited to it, and they may launch several of the midwest markets (Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Louis) they have been building out in conjunction with it.

They have been in the prep stage for this for a loooong time.

This network is a sleeper. Very strong management, virtually all digital, and with Powertel added they have 272 million licensed POPs, a sub base of about 5 million, and solid roaming revenues from GSMers around the world. Decks are cleared for DT.

My gut reaction is one mast planted for senator Hollings
(?) and some strategic roaming agreements.

Ilmarinen.

P.S. One buddy did his thesis in USA on "gut reactions"
and middle managers, interesting managerial, organisatorial
topic (just as "intellectual honesty")
