All: Is it true that 1983, 84 and 85 actually saw negative inflation, i.e. deflation at the rates of -0.87%, -0.44% and -0.24% respectively? Can anybody corroborate these numbers? I saw the numbers on a website with inflation statistics and was surprised to see some negative numbers (the largest negative number was in the late 40's -- a minus 3.8 or somewhere close to that).
