UB, I agree with your first statement -- WEB seems to have a refreshingly small ego for someone in his position. <g>

Unlike most here, however, I tend to think that AG knows exactly what he's done. He knew the market was overvalued back in '97, so I somehow doubt that WEB feels the need to send him a message on that score (much more likely it was intended for the sheeple, imo).

I'm basically a conspiracy theorist, have been ever since Bertrand Russell wrote "16 Questions on the Assassination" and Richard Condon wrote "Winter Kills" (interestingly, someone posted earlier today about new evidence suggesting a second shooter on the grassy knoll) ... so I figure AG is either involved in some 'New World Order' plot to destroy the US/world economy (which I doubt ;), or more likely he saw something so awful around the time of the LTCM crisis that hyperinflation seemed the lesser of two evils ... it just seems that everyone -- from WEB to the world's central bankers, etc -- have agreed to pretend that the Emperor has these wonderful clothes. BWDIK.

Best,
Terry
