JDN ... John, do you have the same buy-and-hold rating on 'dubya' as you continue to have on SUNW? ... and, do you think SUNW will be back in the stratosphere before that little worm is given the boot in November, 2004 ... I hope so ... in both situations, we win! <g>

<<Dear Steve: I thought Bush gave an uplifting state of the economy type speech today.>>

Well that's no big trick, you've been sold on Bush all along. Apparently Wall Street hasn't been as impressed as you've been.

When Bush says the economy is sputtering, then offers a solution which even you agree won't help much (if at all) in the short run, he's telling us we're on our own. That can't possibly be seen as good news by the market.

Meanwhile both Jeb and George W. enacted sweeping tax cuts in Florida and Texas in the face of huge surpluses and now both states are enacting massive program cuts as they suffer with huge budget deficits. So much so even Republican legislators in those states regret the scope of the tax cuts. Now Bush wants to do for America what he and his brother did for Texas and Florida.

Bush's plan is no help in the short run, and a potential fiscal disaster in the medium run when budget surpluses (real and estimated) start to come down.

I for one am not comforted by our current leadership.
