Glenn, never under-estimate the power of KPCB.
Look for a tax payer bailout of Amazon.coms debt in the future.
Now, do you understand why I bought those bonds?

WASHINGTON -- President Bush today will name Silicon Valley venture capitalist Floyd Kvamme, an ardent Bush backer and a big campaign contributor, to a key White House science-and-technology position, an administration source said Tuesday.
Tapping Kvamme to co-chair the President's Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology is part of Bush's outreach to the high-tech industry that he started early in his presidential campaign. Bush will make the announcement today when he welcomes more than 100 high-tech executives to the White House to discuss the economy and to try to build support for his $1.6 trillion tax cut plan.

The appointment will not require Kvamme, a partner in the Menlo Park venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, to move to Washington.

``He's highly regarded in the tech community and his advice is highly valued by the president,'' said an administration official, who requested anonymity. ``He was throughout the campaign just a stalwart supporter.''
