Thought QCOM had already announced a cdma/gsm chip and also promised a Wcdma /cdma 2000 chip set.

>> It has persuaded its US partner to say a final choice has yet to be made. But the dispute remains unresolved and could cause a more serious conflict if Verizon persists in its apparent preference.

Has anyone seen such a statement from Verizon? The only announcement I saw regarded a five billion dollar award for cdma infrastructure.

Do you think it's possible that FT is making this stuff up? Nah, that's too cynical to consider. They are responsible journalists. They're probably just too busy to document their seemingly absurd claims.

btw, Rajalala's from UK. Do you think he might be one of their ace reporters?

Verizon's 3G plans upset Vodafone - What a bunch of crap. This FT stuff gets worse each time QCOM goes up a few points. I suppose VOD wants VZ to switch from IS-95 to WCDMA in the current spectrum.LOL. The only problem with this option is it would cost $50Billion not $5Billion to get to 3G. Oh, there is one other small problem THERE IS NO WCDMA YET!
Of course if FT had any honesty left at all, they would have mentioned that the 3G discussions were probably centered around new 3G spectrum that the FCC is trying to swipe from the current owners and sell for megabucks to wireless carriers.
