You certain have my sympathies. Consulting can be a dirty business, too. Consultants many times get treated as an 'underclass' of mercenaries. Everyone assumes they make tons of money, so they believe they can treat them poorly.

Certainly, the money must be better than the machine shop, but the hours are tough. We hired a number of consultants who took a pay cut to get out from the same cancelled vacations and lives on hold.
