star,

in seattle the rain of late has been subpar. we used to get more. of course it's never like the rain on the eastern seaboard, or when the rain sweeps through the sw desert.

but you're right about the people around here being generally shortsighted.

on the other hand there is a fairly large underground community of 'free thinkers.' yet many of those are rehashed socialists.

i've lived here practically all my life.

have you tried the mushrooms which sprout during spring or autumn, in the midst of the 'rains?'

see... there are these ones with little blue rings around the stems... yummy...

oh i love those mushrooms but something tells me not to eat any more of them.

andy

**this place is still definitely up there on the odd-meter** :-) yea, i took one of my son-in-laws and daughter over to the pikes area (he's a twa pilot and a country boy[one of 12] from maine). he was amazed at the multitude of colors in hair, how many areas of the body could be pierced, and the number of bums puking all over the place.

the guy, dressed in rags at the square, with the janus joplin and jimmy hendricks puppets - saw him get out of a new cadillac, open the trunk, and get out his boom box and puppets (and $ cup).

**haven't bothered to read Milton and are ignorant about where roads paved with good intentions usually lead.**
talk about paved roads and 695 - i had to laugh when they said they'd have to shut down some animal rescue and senior citizens projects if it passed. tell me, WTF did they have to do auto tags?????????

rain and lightening> the yr i left FL, we had 16" more rain than seattle, but that's RAIN. my other daughter in FL said the other day they had 5 1/2" in 2 hrs. i laugh when jeff rinner(sp) gives the rainfall in /100's of inches. hell, in FL that's just a raindrop!
**The thunderstorms were very cool though** i've lost computers, microwaves, phones and was even knocked out for a time from the lightening, of course they joked with me that i attracted it because i was always so negative -g-

**But driving school and weapons training sound fun anyway! <g>** dave barry, the humor columnist, had a article in the miami herald yrs ago about driving in miami. there were 4 little cartoon characters giving examples of hand signals - left hand down for stop or slow down, left hand straight out for left hand turn, left hand up for right hand turn, and left hand up with middle finger extended means SHOOT ME.

Best Bill/WA
ps: i'm not leaving either, esp. back to s. FL
