I've read his book several times and what comes through to me is that although he acquired real market savvy at a youthful age, he was taken down as a result of his ego. Recall that he was cratered when he tried to "move stocks".

Amazing that he somehow didn't accept that when the market decides on a direction, the efforts of one guy isn't going to deter it. Sad, but there is a potent message there for all of us.
