Given AMD's transition from 250nm to 180nm with no problems and implementing copper. Don't you have more confidence that AMD can do a better job then INTC on this next shrink and even possibly SOI?

AMD would certainly have the easier time than Intel going to .13um in bulk. (assuming they don't go for low k dielectric at the same time) The POD based fab is great for yield and is a real plus. As for SOI, there are just so many issues. I really don't know where they stand with it. But it seems that they will buy (from IBM) whatever they have to. IBM certainly has been thru all the issues (they are shipping SOI in product) They (IBM) seem eager to have someone extend SOI into the mainstream and hopefully will give full support. The timing is what bothers me the most.
