Harry:

Victor is wrong when he says that "Palm is selling more and more of the LOW END end models, and FEWER HIGH END ones". If you crunch some numbers, it's clear that Palm actually sold more Vx/VIIx units in Q3 than in Q2, otherwise they couldn't have made $413.7 million on 2.1 million units, when you factor in the $50 IIIxe rebate and the $50 price reduction on the Vx/VIIx.

As for the "inclined bathtub"recovery, if you believe the extreme doom and gloom types:

Subject 37210

then the ice age cometh, and we should sell everything, horde cash and precious metals, and hunker down, but it's a bit late for that. There are clearly a number of problems to be worked out which have been aired all over the place with tons of hindsight, but I'd be surprised if we don't begin to see some healthy signs by year end. As for Palm, as I said to TG, they screwed up this Vx to m500/505 product transition, maybe due to factors they had no control over, and I'm going to wait and see how the initial sales of these new devices and the Kyocera/Samsung units go before I sell - unless a market turnaround occurs sooner and there are better things to park cash in than Palm.

Harry I think the OS is one of the keys. I like all the stuff companies like Symbol are doing with PALM's technology.

Long term I think PAlM will do well esp as Handspring nears the expiry of the lic. Then again, long term, we'll all be dead.
