Since he clearly was able to see those problems coming, he probably would have avoided them.>>> I think I understand Scumbria's frustration and resentment. I also think Intel management both arrogant and obtuse at the same time. I'll bet a lot of Intel chip architect's probably feel the same way. However, having said that, let me share with you an analogous frustration I have had for a number of years as a sports fan. I think George Steinbrenner, principal owner of the New York Yankees, is a jerk. I think he is a stupid bully. I think I know more about baseball than he does. I think I could put together a baseball team far better than he can - and I'm not kidding. I would have signed up both Derek Jeter and Bernie Williams to long term contracts long before Steinbrenner was forced to sign sign them before they became free agents for more than a combined quarter of a billion dollars. I would have locked them up more than 2 years ago for less than $100M. With the money I would have saved, I could have gotten Mike Piazza. I would have gone after Pedro Martinez rather than Roger Clemens. I could go on and and on with stupid things and rotten things this man has done over the years. But when you own the baseball franchise in the biggest market (big TV, cable and radio deals, big population to draw from, media capital of the world, and so on) you don't have to be a good guy to succeed. You don't have to be smart to succeed. You could be a jerk, make a lot of mistakes and still make it big time. If I owned the NY Yankees, I could make MLB think Marge Shott was a sweetheart. Get the drift? Mary
