I remember that day well, too. Rode COMS all the way up, sold, but forgot to short it for the trip down :-P. Oh well. COMS's trading that fateful day was remarkable too. Dropped something like 20 points in 30 seconds after PALM opened. I'll never forget all the messages I read brimming with confidence that the exct opposite would happen.

It was the day the IPO spinoff game ended, and IMO the dot-com craze was never the same again, even if it took another month to actually peak.

And today we have A(polo)gere. A year ago or so, one would be told how much of a privilege getting IPO shares was and how if you didn't hold them for 30 days they'd never trust you with another IPO. Today, they're begging clients to take shares, even after being told point blank that said shares are going to be on the market inside of 30 seconds. How quickly times change.
