I'm not up on win2K at all. The below program claims to work for all incarnations of Windows.
As to what each program does again in 2k I'm out of my element.
This should allow you to at least have control over programs loading.

i am currently using startup cop...
zdnet.com
with win2000pro and i'm pleased with it.

i also run startup monitor and am pleased with it as well.... #reply-15509691
mlin.net

mike lin's page also has a startup manager program called startup control panel....
mlin.net
that looks like it would work great with his other program, startup monitor. only reason i am not running it is because i found and loaded startup cop first, and it does the job adequately.

as for identifying what all of the programs are, there are various methods of investigating and determining, one of which is posting them all here and letting thread members take a crack at them for you. other ways would be by using the search function to read through related posts (a very valid method, imo, in that we have gone over this subject a few times), or finding the application you have a question about in explorer or file manager and right-clicking it and choosing properties. lots of info can be gleaned in this way.

hope this helps

:)
