When I worked for YARC, we actually saw an earthquake coming on our computer screens. All of the screens in the office wavered at the same time, followed by the earthquake shock a few seconds later. We figure that the shock waves of the earthquake disturbed the power transformers, and the ensuing voltage fluctuation raced ahead of the shockwave.
