Ethernet to the home is a good solution, but I don't understand how it can be deployed without actually laying fiber to the home - which is a really big deal. Not just the logistics of digging up every neighborhood but also getting (paying for!) the easements. Easements aren't free, you know. Telcos and cable companies already have the easements and the connections in place. Some new communities being built are using foresight to lay the fibers now. I also don't think the technology is really ready for prime time but maybe I am wrong about that.
