When I was a school kid in the 60s, our school outlawed dodge ball during recess cause kids kept getting hurt. I don't recall a great upcry from the Right that our right to smack each other silly was being violated.

Boy, what a world we've built ourselves. Between the Right crying about the lost art of playing tag, and the Left protecting the rights of the green speckled dung slug, I think we spend more time on silliness than ever before in history...

When I lived in downtown Annapolis, sometimes we would drive to West Annapolis Elementary in the evening to let my son swing and fool around while we caught a breeze and talked. I know that when he was in elementary school, there was serious discussion of cutting out recess, because of liability issues. Also, the zero tolerance policy on weapons got one of his friends kicked out of middle school for having a small pen knife. When I chaperone, I am supposed to confiscate water pistols. I won't do it unless I have to because the kid is being disruptive, and I always give them back.......
