I don't follow. If CDMA2000 should theoretically get a foothold in Europe-a big if-then the value of spectrum falls because 3G could then be implemented in less spectrum. Who would buy excess spectrum? Certainly not the financially weaker carriers.

I really don't get it. The Euros can't seriously believe that WCDMA and its convoluted and difficult migration path will ultimately result in more profits to the carriers or the manufacturers. The imponderables are simply too daunting: Delays, technology (GPRS and EDGE) within the migration path which is questionable, financial difficulties with paying for new spectrum which was ludicrously overbid, etc.

What is with those guys? I find it difficult to believe that it all has to do with a hatred of Q. When the big bucks are at stake, most rational economic entities put aside their differences, smile, shake hands, and go about the business of making money regardless of animosity.

Someone smarter than me tell me what's going on because I'm stumped.
