I'm a proud Christian, was just mystified by learning about the separation of Church and State at the same time I was looking at the Pledge in a critical vein.It was the early seventies, a profoundly interesting era politically.

Would you explain what you mean by "I guess there's something to be said for bliss"? Do you mean religious bliss?
