Hi jhg,

Do you have a URL for the quote you provided? In particular, I was unaware of Raskob's involvement. As you might recall, he was the developer of the Empire State Building and at that moment in time, was suffering the derision of the crowd, who had nicknamed the building the "Empty State Building." No doubt he was feeling some financial strain. However, what amazes me, if he truly was conspiring with John Davis, is that in the 1920's Raskob was the head of the DNC and served as As Smith's campaign manager in 1928. Quite an interesting suggestion that you've made that he would be so completely opposed to FDR's approach to governance. Though, the Pecora hearings and the creation of the SEC no doubt cut into Raskob's available bag of tricks to creatively finance his lifestyle.

Best, Ray :)
