"Well then, why CSCO, since CSCO is losing share to both SCMR and JNPR??

SCMR has cutting edge optical; JNPR has cutting edge routers."

Not anymore, Cisco had neglected core routers as a result
Juniper was able to make gains. Things have changed, now Cisco's mgmt. is fully focused on Juniper. They just came
out with OC-192 line card and are working very hard on
getting more stuff out. Recently lot of carriers have turned back to Cisco... Juniper's M160 has its own issues (shared memory architecture, no QoS, limited feautures...)

dont know much about SCMR.

Look back and you will find that they had been lot of companies that came and challanged Cisco (Bay Networks, Xylan, Ascend, Cascade, ....). Cisco mgmt LOVES competition
unlike Microsoft!
