I agree.

Early stage companies eat cash with abandon. No problem when the IPO spigots are wide open, but an ugly drain on parental wallets when there is no one who wants to share the load..... er risk.

In 1987, I watched several excellent tech start-ups that were being nurtured by the venture capital company I ran back then, do a fast walk off a short plank. It had been easy to raise dough until that summer, and impossible to do so after the fall. Ugly funerals followed. Some lessons are more expensive than others.
