Right. Well they'd have an easier time of designing -- same basic hardware mounting designs for many years. Customers could become more proficient when discussing internals with tech support. But I see your point -- similar to the reasons that auto manufacturers focus little on making cars easy to work on.

And, the Dells wouldn't have to make everything recyclable. Oh wait, that's only the direction in Europe <g>. And a good one from my perspective. Apparently there are services which will "dispose" of old computers environmentally appropriately. I'd be curious about the process, and will have to check it out at some point.
