So... I see that the analysts are still smelling bottoms... hmm...anal / ysts...coincidence? I wonder. If this were like 1929, the analysts should be jumping out of the windows. To me, it just seems like the coziness between them and the companies that could afford them, is coming to a reluctant end. Maybe it’s a further sign that we’re getting closer to cleaning up after the party. As Jasper Friendly Bear radio.cbc.ca says, “Stay Calm, Be Brave, Watch For the Signs”. This is really an interesting market that, I s’pose, should be appreciated for what it is, we’ve just gotta watch for the signs....whatever they are... I’ve had to take a month-long hiatus for a family health issue but I guess I’m back sporadically at the least. I liquidated some of my losers before my break (yeah, they’re still going down) to try for a fresh start right about now. So, bloodied but unbowed, I’m ready for another round; but, it’s a tough fight, ma. I’ve just been going through the thread, good stuff there, even a recipe for a mango and spinach salad...sounds good...I’ve been looking for a good excuse to make a poppy seed dressing. I’ve got to agree with you from awhile ago there Ralfph: the market does need a good cathartic bowel movement to feel better. Or, maybe I just feel the pent up need to rant. I may even go so far up as a high colonic. Let’s get that last grape seed out of there. But, I think that last grapeseed might have the face of Al “Lagging Indicators” Greenspan etched on it. Oy, what was his timing like as a musician? BTW, I’ve been thinking, maybe Elton John’s hug for EmeNem was because he’d heard the old commercial ‘bout “M and M” melting in your mouth, not in your hand? Who knows...or cares? Marcos, you were mentioning the predictability of political discussions. I’ve gotta agree...they’re circular...they’ve gotta be in these pre-revolutionary days. But, I’ve actually become immersed in the soap opera called the House of Commons for its theatrical merits (or lack of them, the acting is worse than porn films). I mean, ya can’t take it seriously. It’s really grating but it can be addictive; sort of like the latest Microsoft ads. They’re both so repetitive...but, humour is so fragile and transcient...and so is honesty in politicians. As you were sayin’: there’s, “...lots of humour in the game - without politicians we would have no caricaturists, what a blah life that would be.” Exactly. So, for this hiatus time, I’ve been picking on the politicians rather than the stocks. But, I can’t really go with any of them. Now, I’m apathetic...didn’t think I’d ever have to admit to it. I’d much rather be betting on a stock...or a horse, or where a fly’s going to land, than any politician’s effectiveness. So, please don’t let any of my below observations of the main participants cause a spontaneous political debate, I’m far too jaded to participate. This (and the next, and the one after that, ad nauseum) goverment’s snake oil show will continue...with heads bobbing up and down in the background, and become less and less worthy of our attention. That’s what the people in power have usually really counted on...where is the public’s threshold for apathy and how do we get there? The only exceptions I can think of would be in times of war, even then, the first casualty is truth. FWIW, I’ve observed the following from our current crop of bad actors in the last while, for what they’re worth. Ah well, it’s all in fun, they know that, and we’re catching on. I’ve decided that come what may, even I can’t listen to much more on the Shawinigate affair for awhile...It’s not even so much the bluff and bluster that’s got me down. It’s just that, frankly, I can’t stand to see that self-satisfied little smirk that “Do unto others” Day gets every time he finishes his diatribe. Hey! Day! Preston Manning’s departure has left the doors open for a new leader to emerge from the bottom and you know what happens when you get to the top. A guy who is doing things for the right reasons doesn’t feel the need to smirk, or giggle, I’ve seen ya...ya little simp. And quit tryin’ to get Jean to fight ya after school, he’d clobber ya anyways. You’re steppin’ in the CCRAP. BTW, I voted for the hastily constucted Alliance Party the last time around (or rather, against the Liberals). I’ve almost become fond, as a character in this dark comedy, of course, of Jean Chretien. Maybe he truly is Machievellian (and I mean that in the nicest possible way). He sees more than we do. As an example, maybe if he hadn’t pepper sprayed our demonstrators when Sgt Pepper got his orders...just maybe Suharto’s bodyguards would have opened sporadic fire...they wanted to...yeah, maybe. He’s one Hell of a politician and one Hell of a survivor. But, I don’t like him. Arrogance is not a redeeming feature in a politician...it sort of voids the word democracy. Old Joe must have paid his penance by now for being Mulrooney’s man and he’s looking more like “Dief the Chief” every day. He’s as stubborn as they come. The Liberals have clearly taken the low road in their personal attacks on his appearance and his political career...they’re turning him into a martyr...really, ”the fifth party”? Remember when Reform was the “turd party”? I won’t get into the supporting and bit players, they keep showing themselves for what they are all on their own. So, I can’t support the arrogance of the Liberal Party, the ineffectual Tories, or the Alliance Party and the leader’s views on dinosaurs of any stripe, or even the NDP, Rhinocerous, or Libertarian Parties although I have voted for each of them in the past. But, they sure are fun to watch in short bursts. And, that is the end of my needed political self abuse. As in all theatre, the show must go on; but, that’s enough of politics for me for awhile. I’m apathetic. Thank Zeus for the clean world of stocks (yeah, sure) where you can get paid (or punished) for your opinion. BTW, my latest, and probably ongoing rule is this: only buy an uptrending stock; all else is folly in this market. But, let’s see how long this rule lasts, LOL. FINALLY, ON TOPIC: Denison Mines keeps showing up in my scans. It’s been uptrending since Dec 22nd. Is anybody working on this one? I’m just getting back up to speed here, and I’m the first to admit that I’ve got a lot to learn about this sector, so I might have some really dumb questions to ask. Denison seems tempting, but I’ve just started doing some DD on them and I’m being rightfully cautious. There’s lots of paper out there, but they are making a buck and have a P/E of about 4 and a bit...hmmm...I don’t know... It’s good to be back, Zippity Doo Da, Happy Trails, Lenny |
