I think of what it would've been like as a kid to curl
up in front of the radio, listening to the serial shows like The Shadow.

Don't get me going on that. I have really fond memories of radio shows. There was a shoe called Halls of Fantasy on Monday nights. I used to lie in bed in the dark and get soooo scared. Right afterwards, I Love Lucy was on TV. Sometimes I'd be so scared Mom would have to come to my room to walk me out to the living room and the TV. On Tuesday mornings, I would walk to school with friends (we walked to school then) and tell them the story along the way.

I've bookmarked a couple of web sites that have tapes of old shows. I haven't bought any of them yet but I plan to one of these days.

Are you old enough to remember radio shows?

You betcha. "The Shadow Knows" was one of our childhood mantras.

At least kholt had a TV to sit down in front of. We didn't even have one when I was growing up. Didn't get one until my grandmother moved in with us in the 60s, and even then we only had it in her room for her, and I wasn't allowed to watch after she went to bed, which was pretty much right after dinner. Most of my friends didn't have TVs either, so I had a TV deprived childhood, which has translated into a TV deprived adulthood. But the former wasn't by choice!!
