I believe FED influences the creation of various types of money, and makes money available should they be needed, at the discount rate they ask. The FED does not create the need for money, nor the need for an SUV, and therefore only indirectly influences the economy. Look no further than Japan. I am in fact a borrower of Yen. Love it.
