Most of the announcements on the SI board are will cut x amount in the future. These will hit home shortly (before the end of the year), but have not necessarily had an impact yet. Also locally speaking, all the people I know that have been down sized this year have been able to find jobs quickly. The job market has been so tight for so long that there is a cushion that is absorbing the lay-offs so far. I do not expect this to last much longer, but for now I can understand the difference in the two numbers...
