In the baby food aisle at the Dominick's supermarket in Elmhurst, small signs offer an apology: "Due to high theft, all powder formula is located in the pharmacy. When the pharmacy is closed, please ask at the service desk."

Most of the announcements on the SI board are will cut x amount in the future. These will hit home shortly (before the end of the year), but have not necessarily had an impact yet.

Also locally speaking, all the people I know that have been down sized this year have been able to find jobs quickly. The job market has been so tight for so long that there is a cushion that is absorbing the lay-offs so far.

I do not expect this to last much longer, but for now I can understand the difference in the two numbers...
