Mary, this article says mainframes are alive and well. Then they go on to describe jobs being handled by machines that were never called mainframes: Tandems and Unisys boxes. Well, maybe the Unisys machines were called mainframes. So, the Tandem one, with "redundant everything", never down, etc., is the one that Intel based machines won't replace. But, there's a chance for just about everything else. Long and winding road on that, though. Duke of URL, where are you? computerworld.com So, have you recommended to the Yankees BOD (if they have one) to can Steinbrenner and give you the job? Actually, he's the owner, isn't he? Moot point. <I never used to agree with that old adage about "there is no fool like an old fool". I am going to have to think that over <ggg>.> Hey Mary - I also think over another classic adage: A woman's place is in the kitchen! What a shame Intel didn't nose dive today, however in due time this dog will dwindle lower; much lower! Respectfully Dana Adams
