Jack Welch is on a CNBC panel discussion tonight at 7:00pm eastern. I'm going to be looking to see if he gives any indications of expected GE earnings. He has said that he saw the slowdown of the economy in November through the slowdown at Plastics; their products are used broadly in tech and non-tech manufacturing. Can it be much better in the other GE consumer product lines?

How is GE going to engineer earnings growth for the first quarter - by taking earnings out of the second quarter (reducing future earnings), or with one time events such as the satellite sale? I don't see the Japan economy helping in any way, nor Europe. GE's earnings are going to be interesting and will be intensely scrutinized.
