RE: "Would you mind sharing your methodology as to where and when to cover shorts?"

Sam, The answer would keep me typing for days, but I'll attempt to very briefly summarize:

a) I've selected AMAT because it's a company that I know and like for many reasons. I'm looking for an opportune time to initiate a long position.

b) I believe AMAT is currently overvalued. In addition, I expect the semi-equip sector has more downside ahead.

c) While I watch and wait, I'm playing it short. (until there's a break in the trend of continued weakness and warning news from the semis).

d) My short term entry points are based primarily on a combination of experience, gut feel and TA.

e) My short term exit points are primarily based on a preset percentage gain (normally 5-10%).

f) My goal is to simply win more swing trades than I lose.

I often short late and cover early as a result of being somewhat conservative in my approach. While it's unlikely I'll hit a home run, I can more easily avoid the strong draws of fear and greed.
