[Harsh and quick] were not terms used in economics class.

Come on Cary. The only terms used in econ classes at MIT are variables and parameters ;-)

I used to ride my old Raleigh bike up Mass Ave twice a week for Bob Solow's MacroEconomics class at the 'tute. Loved the lectures but found the problem sets frequently assumed a higher level of proficiency with math than I was accustomed to at the time.

Econ classes at Harvard OTOH were filled with football players and the occasional mid career fellow from the Kennedy School, and were taught in English, not math.

Grading was not as harsh. I don't know if the learning was as quick. ;-)
