I think there is some truth to 'earnings drive the market'.

The moonshot.com has no earning and vaporized.

The oil companies have good earnings, but buyers do not believe they are anything other than 'extrordinary gains'. Someday...maybe not in the lifetime of Perro Grande, but someday the earnings from the oil companies will get respect as they come to be viewed as sustainable.

It is my feel that we are truly in a brave new world of energy supply/demand/pricing and that this cycle will have much longer legs than are being currently priced into the stocks.

Also, I might add that the oil patch has not been a bad place to hide during the crash and burn of the Nasdaq and the Dow. Seems that some were saying the patch would not be a safe haven. I think it has to some degree. (I'm not looking at numbers, but just from my recall.)
