I think that you have most everything right, RTQ. I know that I had to exercise some employee stock options recently just so that I could pay the AMT on some shares that I exercised (and held) last year at a "reasonable price". The tax is more than the value of the shares at this point. I thought I might even have to sell some SFY to cover the taxes, but that looks like a nightmare that won't happen.

The only strike against SFY right now is that some of the tech stocks are sitting at attractive prices, so it isn't unreasonable to pull money out of the low-beta stocks and put it into some high-risk high-reward places. But then I bought AVNX several weeks ago and immediately wrote covered calls on the shares, figuring that a 20% gain in 7 weeks would be just as fine as having a cost-basis of $16. Yikes. Nils was looking for about $12 (I think) on AVNX, and he got his opportunity, though I doubt if he bought any.
