Thursday March 29, 6:35 pm Eastern Time ImproveNet to cut workforce by 25 pct, buy back $2 mln in stock REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 29 (Reuters) - ImproveNet Inc. (NasdaqNM:IMPV - news), an Internet-based home improvement services company, announced on Thursday restructuring plans including a 25-percent workforce reduction equal to about 65 employees. The company also said its board authorized the repurchase of up to $2 million worth of the company's common stock through public trading. ImproveNet said its restructuring includes the creation of a new inside sales organization that will provide ongoing support for its contractor network. The company said it expects a planned net workforce reduction of 25 percent, combined with previously announced operating efficiencies, will reduce annual operating expenses by more than $20 million in calendar 2001, including an estimated $1.5 million to $2 million in severance and other one-time transition costs in 2001.
