"At the same time TW/AOL is in trials for voice over cable."

ZO- A lot of MSOs are trialing packet voice. IMO I wish it wasn't even an option as it seems it's a smokescreen for delaying proven circuit-switch voice rollouts. The migration path to packet voice from circuit voice is relatively easy. That is why the "trials" of packet voice by so many MSOs concern me.

Note: For those that don't know, packet voice trials by the MSOs are for the local loop only. Not end to end VoIP. From the master headend, the packet voice is passed off to a class five circuit-switch (either the MSO owns it or they cut a deal with a twisted pair player who does).

I'm hoping the lifting of the ownership caps rule will pit AOL/Time Warner directly against ATT. OR I'm hoping that ATT will work a deal with AOL/Time Warner to have access to AOL/Time Warner customers. Either way it'll be great competition for the ILECs.

I considered GX to be a pure carrier's carrier. Apparently I was wrong. Thanks for that info. If you know, how many customers does Global Crossing have a direct link to? -MikeM(From Florida)

MSO a term I use loosely for cable TV companies
