DJ MARKET TALK/HK: Short Selling Up 16%; PCCW Tops List 09:30, 2001-03-30 0818 [Dow Jones] Short-selling turnover up 16% at $278 million yesterday; number of stocks shorted rose to 36 from 26. Pacific Century CyberWorks (0008) led with $89.4 million worth of shares shorted; traders hoping retail investors would start dumping remaining holdings after company became only blue chip with negative net book value. Hutchison Whampoa (0013) and HSBC (0005) followed with about $26 million each.
