I worded that post terribly, it was late at night, I think I was drunk. -g I didn't mean to slam you at all. I think it was very smart of you to pay off the mortgage when you could. The point I failed to make was that in a bull market the economy gets an extra kick from people such as yourself that are able to live above what their income is from market gains. Do you think in a prolonged bear market there's going to be a lot of people that are willing to pull out enough money to make big purchases? Or do you think they'd rather leave their money in the market because they don't feel as rich anymore? Don't you think this will effect the economy? This problem only gets compounded by the DEBT issue you bring up.
