rudedog, Thanks for that informative response on the PocketPC. Do you know what price difference there is between the iPaq, Palm, and the HP pocket PC?

What I find hard to believe is that the electronic contract manufacturers are seeing slowdown...that is, they now have capacity.
So why would there need to be a backlogg is puzzling to me. We are seeing inventory adjustments all over the tech sector and find it hard to believe the iPaq would still be backlogged.

True..about the handsprind and Palm units sitting on the shelves. They are basically a luxury item that one can do without. With so much loss in wealth, who really wants an organizer anyways.
For business use, I guess you would wantWord/Excel on it--otherwise it would also be a luxury item.

I would think an IE for the pocket PC will be much better as well...as MSFT can continue their R and D efforts unlike the competitors that are worried about costs.

All MSFT needs to do convince the wireless carriers that it is to their advantage to start offering products with MSFT software...so that businesses would have incentive to buy them. What are your thoughts on this market? I realize the wireless carriers call the shots but they also need to offer products that the business customer will be interested in.
I can image devices smaller than notebooks, being online. PCS will be offering higher speed internet at 144k late this year. We may finally see the start of the wireless internet by then.
