One reason AMD might be weak so far today is that most of the end of quarter window dressing is probably over. I suspect that the publicity that AMD was the #1 performing SP500 stock in Q1 attracted two types of investors:

1. Institutions that wanted to show some AMD on their books at the end of the quarter
2. Unsophisticated shorters who figure that anything that outperforms must be a good short.

This is a war and #2 is winning right now. Most of the #1's probably didn't wait until the last day.

EDIT - another reason, niceguy isn't here to hold it up!

Any reason for the drop today (> 5.5%) while the rest of the market is holding up?

Because I bought some recently. Right after my last sale (of My options), the stock went from about 26.5 to about 30. Now that I have bought shares the price goes down.
